Ubuntu Jam at the University of Mauritius

I have to admit that even though I use Microsoft Windows on a daily base to earn my living, I'm also using Linux since almost two decades on various machines. Together with different types of virtualisation I actually do not care whether an OS is running on bare-metal or inside a virtual machine.

Upgrade to Xubuntu 15.04 - Vivid Vervet

Running an operating system like Ubuntu or any of its derivates, like ie. Xubuntu, comes with some nice treats (and threats?). One of the nice things is that you'll get a scheduled upgrade approximately every six months. Usually, around April and October of each year.

Mugg & Bean - Nightmare at Bagatelle

Seriously, it is not my intention to blackmail a brand with this posting but frankly speaking after all those months of continuous negative experience at Mugg & Bean in Bagatelle, I won't have another meal for a very long time in one of their branches. Introduction to Mauritius Software Craftsmanship Community

The MSCC is technology-agnostic community and spans an umbrella over any kind of technology. Simply because you can't ignore other technologies anymore in a connected IT world as we have. Children are happy using their Kindle Fire HDX

Even though I already use a variety of tablets - both iOS- and Android-based - for professional reasons I was looking for a more secure solution for children than what is possible with the default systems.

My first month using a Lumia 730

It's already one month since I bought a Nokia / Microsoft Lumia 730 during one of my business trips in Europe. And quite frankly I'm going to summarise my impressions, up & downs during this time using the device itself, the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system and the apps during this period.

Good to know: Sender Policy Framework

The Sender Policy Framework (SPF) is an open standard specifying a technical method to prevent sender address forgery. More precisely, the current version of SPF — called SPFv1 or SPF Classic — protects the envelope sender address, which is used for the delivery of messages.

High Performance Responsive Design by Tom Barker

Although, as good as everyone working in the field of web sites or web application development is talking about Responsive Web Development (RWD) Tom Barker has a simple but nevertheless shocking statement: You're doing it wrong!
