Mauritius has been branded Cyber Island in the Indian Ocean... Opinions in those matters vary but with this conference we strive to improve the general attribution of our island. Mauritius has great political stability and economical advantages for foreign investors, and the most precious resource Mauritius has to offer is people's knowledge.

Shellshock is one the most dangerous security holes that has hit the internet, since heartbleed. BASH is a widely used shell found in Servers and embedded appliances. It allows hackers to run remote code, and potentially take over your servers.

Seriously, even though the idea of starting a business right after graduation might be tempting, take into consideration that there's a lot to learn and it's definitely not the big bucks you should after. Building your own company takes a lot of energy and investment in terms of time and money. Be smart, learn from others' experience, team up in start-up if you prefer a more flexible life-style.

Ish and Dan had well prepared presentations on shell scripting, mainly focused towards Bourne Again Shell (bash), and the pros and cons of scripting versus actually writing something in a decent programming language. I thought that I could cut myself out of the equation but the demand for information about PowerShell was higher than expected...

Mauritius participated and contributed to the Global Windows Azure Bootcamp 2014 (GWAB). Again! And this time stronger than ever, and together with 137 other locations in 56 countries world-wide.

In Mauritius, the Global Windows Azure Bootcamp will be organised by Microsoft Indian Ocean Islands & French Pacific in partnership with The Mauritius Software Craftsmanship Community (MSCC) and sponsored by Microsoft, Ceridian and Emtel.
